The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia NAQEZ has called on government through the Ministry of education to prioritize recruiting teachers in rural areas ahead of the announced recruitment of 30,000 teachers,
Speaking on Feel Free FM this morning, NAQEZ Eastern Provincial Deputy Coordinator Daliso Daka said that schools in rural Zambia are heavily under staffed adding that the situation retards the service delivery of the teachers.
Mr. Daka has also said that government should consider employing locally qualified teachers to minimize on unwarranted transfers which negatively affect the learners.
And Mr. Daka says NAQEZ welcomes the pronounced construction of 200 schools across the country by government. He adds that the schools will go a long way in creating additional spaces for the learners.
He has further applauded government on the introduction of free education for the needy and vulnerable learners.
Meanwhile, Mr. Daka has called on School Authorities and parents to prepare adequately and ensure that the learners and teachers are in a safe environment as public schools will be opening for the first term on the 24th of January, 2022.
