A Lusaka based political and governance analyst says it is highly unlikely that the peace accord signed by political parties will yield fruit.
Levison Phiri has told Feel Free news in a telephone interview that peace treaties have been signed by rival political parties in several African countries but to no avail.
Mr. Phiri says this is because the message of peace is not transmitted to the lower party structures who often get involved in violence and other barbaric acts.
MEANWHILE, Mr. Phiri says that politics in the country can only thrive if people realized that politics is a competition of ideas aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
He has therefore urged political parties to tame their supporters and guide them against physical confrontations.
The political analyst has also called upon the Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ and the Zambia Police Service to ensure that tranquility is preserved before, during and after the polls.
